Our friend and photographer, Alastair Wiper - came to our knitting mill with the objective of documenting some of the processes in the manufacturing of knits.
He has been making quite a bit of a name for himself - especially due to all his wonderful images of various industrial sites, CERN, etc.
He surely seemed like the man for the job.
And he most definitely was the man for the job, only: the job turned out being something else than originally expected.
Sometimes, meeting up with the right people in the right context - can lead to the articulation of ideas not fully thought out in advance.
The initital idea was simply to have Alastair make a clean and simple shot of each of our machines - they were supposed to go into some sort of family album for machines.
The problem was, however, that our knitting mill is quite densely packed with the old machines - and this made it very difficult to get the needed distance for a full-frontal shot.
